Unfortunately the Indian/Pakistan mango season is coming to an end and all those weeks of eating mango after mango is over.
This year like every other year I've enjoyed going to Wembley to pick up boxes of Honey, Kesar and Alphonso mangoes. If you've not been I suggest you take a walk down Ealing road and take in the sights and smells.
Hawkers line the streets selling mangoes, Bollywood music, hot pots of sweetcorn and more. It may not be a proper Indian street market, but it's as close as you'll get in London.
We do get mangoes throughout the year but they are mostly from South America and the West Indies. Personally I don't like those. They are pretty hard, not very juicy and not that sweet.
Back home I had a few mangoes left and everyone felt the need for something sweet.
Rather than making a lassi or smoothie I wanted to give making a mango syllabub a try. It's pretty straightforward but its taste it quite complex.
I headed over to MasterChef winner Dhruv Baker and gave his recipe a shot.
Admittedly i was a bit more generous with the rum. The strong molasses plays well with the mango cardamom and lime.
It's hacky to say but the mango syllabub is summer in a glass. It's fresh, light and fruity. Oh and let's not forget just how easy it is to make.
Go the extra mile and when you serve it up your guests will be mightily impressed.
